Industrial Fiber Optics has expanded its SMA connector product line for plastic optical fiber. The new items are SMA connectors for .75 mm and .5 mm optical core, and connectors for 1.0 mm optical core with a non-conductive polymer ferrule. Connectors for the .75 mm core can be used with or without epoxy when used with standard .75 mm jackets. The .5 mm SMA connector requires epoxy, as does the .75 mm design when not used with jacketed cable.

The SMA connector with the polymer ferrule (P/N 51 0085) is used in machine or drive applications with high EMI radation that sometimes is conducted by stainless steel ferrule used in most SMA connector designs.

Industrial Fiber Optics can further customize any SMA connectors, on request, with modifications such as fabricating them with no ferromagnetic materials and/or different jacket diameters.
