Tempe, Arizona - February 6, 2014. Industrial Fiber Optics (IFO), a Tempe, Arizona,-based manufacturer and distributor of fiber optic and laser products, has just announced it has begun offering optical fibers made by Asahi Kasei Corp. of Tokyo, Japan.
- Optical Fiber - The company designs specialized diameters requested by industry, as well as bare fiber in the highest performance grades for very specialized assemblies available nowhere else.
- Specialized single-core optical fiber used in data communications; lighting; and military and medical applications.
- Image guides (bundles of thousands of individual optical fibers) made uniquely of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) fiber that is ideal for high-quality, low-cost applications.
- Multi-core fiber cable that is capable of bending even in tight turns without any significant increase in attenuation (a common problem with other types of single-fiber products).
Asahi Kasei is the world’s largest manufacturer of PMMA optical fiber. It has more than 28,000 employees and assets of more than $1 trillion. The company’s E-Division (stands for energy and electronics) also designs and manufactures battery components, epoxy resins and glass fabric for printed circuit boards.
IFO has conducted design, engineering and manufacturing operations from an industrial park near Arizona State University in Tempe for more than 20 years. It employs 30 technical, manufacturing and administration staff, and distributes its products world-wide.
