Tempe, Arizona - July 12, 2010 - Industrial Fiber Optics (IFO) has just expanded its SMA connector product line for plastic optical fiber (POF). The new connectors boost the range of POF core diameters that can be linked.
The newest SMA connectors are RoHS-compliant and designed for POF cable with either .5 mm or .75 mm optical cores. The .75 mm core connector can be utilized with or without epoxy when used with the standard 2.2 mm OF jacket for .75 mm core. The .5 mm connector requires epoxy, as does the .75 mm version if not used with jacketed cable.
IFO's existing connector line already accommodates standard POF cable with 1.0 mm fiber and 2.2 mm jackets. The entire line is available in a variety of strain reliefs, colors, lengths and metal/polymer retention nuts. Other options such as a complete non-ferromagnetic assembly are also available.
