Industrial Fiber Optics (IFO) made industry news two months ago when it became the first U.S. manufacturer to offer plastic optical fiber couplers/splitters as a stock item. The passive devices distribute optical signals from one or more input fibers into two or more output optical fibers. Applications include computer LANs, automotive electronics, wavelength multiplexing and sensor systems.
The standard description of the IFO coupler is M x N (M input ports and N output ports). The new product line is based on jacketed fiber cable with a 1 mm core, although products can be customized for other fiber core diameters, special fiber lengths and terminations of all types.
IFO-s coupler/splitters are available from distributors and, for OEM customers, direct from IFO.
